Dundee University protest over job cuts threatStaff angered at plans to axe up to 200 jobs at Dundee University are due to protest outside a meeting being held to discuss the institution's future.
University bosses have said the cuts will be limited to "under-performing" areas, with savings re-invested in more productive departments.
However, members of the University and Colleges Union (UCU) said the proposed losses were unnecessary.
The protest is due to take place at the Tower Building at 1300 BST.
The university's governing court has said the cuts would act as a springboard to a leaner, more focused organisation and that many of the losses could be achieved by not replacing retiring staff or through voluntary redundancy.
But the union has claimed that because it received a 1.8% cash terms increase in the latest funding allocations, there is no reason for staff reductions at the university.
UCU spokeswoman Mary Senior said: "We will be making our voices heard to members of the university's court before their meeting.
"It is vital that they reign in plans to sack staff, which would jeopardise the university's proud international reputation."
